Tears

By: C.J. Shaleesh

Constrained by rules gravity put into place

There are many ways to fall but it’s

Always down

Uncertainty only present

On where they settle

Tissues crumpled in haste

Soaked pillows used to muffle sounds

The fingers of a sympathetic person

Or simply the ground parallel to a face

Brought on by various emotions

Grief

Rage

Pride

Why do we resist

Fight against a deep cry

Tears spawn from our body’s internal compassion system

So that we can be revitalized

Start anew

They send subtle streaks of chill

To comfort puffed cheeks

Needing to be soothed

Never do we appreciate that our tears

Live just for us
